The Neffs Volunteer Fire Company is an IRS 501c3 nonprofit organization; tax-exemption EIN 22-2478056. The organization’s sole purpose is to provide fire and emergency services to the village of Neffs and surrounding areas of North Whitehall and Washington townships in Lehigh County, PA. Our coverage area is roughly 20 square miles. Neffs Volunteer Fire Company is designated as Station 16 by the Lehigh County Communications Center. Lehigh County utilizes 9-1-1 as an emergency number. Our department responds mutually with any of the four North Whitehall departments for structure and dwelling assignments. We also respond to injury motor vehicle accidents as well as a plethora of any emergency responses. We are trained and equipped with AED (automatic external defibrillator) and respond with our local EMS for cardiac arrest and more recently single use naloxone doses to help combat the growing trend of opioid overdoes.
Many of our members are certified firefighting professionals. This accreditation certifies uniform members of public fire departments, both career and volunteer meet standardized qualifications. Some members of Neffs also serve on North Whitehall Rescue, a medium rescue co. that serves North Whitehall and surrounding townships. North Whitehall's rescue team is comprised of members from all the township's departments. Most members are trained to at least Dept. of Health Emergency Responder with several EMT's and Paramedics also serving on the local BLS/ALS ambulance service. While the Neffs area could still be considered rural, it is rapidly becoming suburban with the addition of many housing developments and commercial space.
