Firefighter Tom Perun is taking the lessons he has learned at the Neffs Volunteer Fire Company and applying them to his new challenge as Resident Advisor at Penn State, Main Campus in State College. To help celebrate National Fire Prevention Month, RA Perun shared this creative, informative and interactive fire safety bulletin board which will help promote a culture of safety with his residents.
College Dormitories are a high-occupancy life safety hazard and the information provided will help equip residents with the tools they need to stay safe during an emergency. This will also lighten the load on local first responders should an emergency occur.
Firefighter Perun joined the company in 2017 and has since worked to attain his fire certifications while school was not in session. During his time with the company Tom has participated in numerous community safety education events. He has also completed his EMT-B training as part of his course of studies at Penn State where he is working toward a degree in engineering.
We are extremely proud of the work put in by Firefighter Perun both in and out of the classroom. He is another great example of the Pride of Park Avenue!
